You’re invited to celebrate National Inclusive Schools Week this December 2-6 with the Down Syndrome Association for Families of Nebraska (DSAF). Together, let’s highlight inclusivity in your community and recognize all the “Inclusive Champions” out there!
Show us how your school, teacher, peer, employer, and/or community incorporates and values individuality and inclusivity by submitting a nomination. Selected entries will become eligible for final review by the DSAF Executive Committee for one of two $250 awards and be recognized as an “Inclusive Champion”!
Deadline for submission is November 27, 2019.
Steps for Submission
In an education setting, inclusion means that every child and every adult who learns and works in a school is valued and whose educational and personal needs are met. Inclusion is also about parents, peers, employers, and the community. It is not about treating everybody the same, instead, it’s about meeting individual needs – being prepared to be different. It’s about equality of opportunity and an inclusive framework that carries through all policies and actions of the class, school, or community.
